Hundreds Injured In California Prison Riot

There was a huge riot at the California Institution for Men in Chino, CA, about 40 miles east of LA, over the weekend (“Hundreds Hurt In California Prison Riot”, The New York Times, August 10).

UPDATE (Mon 8/10, 12:30pm PST): This after a federal panel ordered that California reduce its prison population of 160,000 by 40,000 over the next 2 years last Tuesday (“California Scrambles to Prepare for Inmate Release”, The Wall Street Journal, August 7).
